Josh Rose is a minor character in Katana Zero, and the target of the Hotel mission. He is an eccentric billionaire with ties to Chronos and the NULL project.
Summary
His role in said project is never confirmed, but it was apparently direct enough for him to feel responsibility for the killings carried out by the NULL soldiers. He dies in the end of the Hotel mission, either by flinging himself off the hotel balcony, or being killed by any object thrown at him by Zero.
Personality
During Rose's brief interaction with Zero, he is shown as completely calm and resolute to his fated demise.
He seems to show remorse for the things Zero had done while using Chronos, Rose being one of the few who knew the true nature of the NULL Project and having an indirect connection to Zero's past.
Notes
- It is implied that Josh Rose stole Chronos from Leon Von Alvensleben in Leon's cassette tapes, which are view-able at the end of the Slaughterhouse mission.
- Apparently Josh was skilled enough to dodge Leon's automated sniper fire (which are actually the work of Turrets instead of Leon's own shooting) and escape the facility with the Chronos.
- In the conversation with Zero, Josh is surprised that the NULL assassin sent to kill him is Zero, instead of "The Dragon". This implies that Josh actually knows who Fifteen is (or at least what he looks like).
- If Josh Rose is killed by the energy blast from the Sword of Masters, the news will report that he was found covered with strange burn marks.
- According to the game's lead developer, Justin Stander, Josh Rose's appearance was based on Nathan Bateman from the 2014 film Ex Machina.
